Suiting the occasion: what will look good?

When it comes to menswear, it’s never easy getting it right. Fashion is always changing, and if you take your eye off what’s fashionable just for a second, then you’ll be falling behind. Fashion is always dictated by society and popular culture, but sometimes everyone just wants to follow their instincts.

We understand just how important your individual style is to you. Together with Noose & Monkey, a key player in prom suit retailing, we’ve compiled this go-to guide to make sure you’re looking your best no matter what the occasion is.

Nailing the interview

When heading to a job interview, you don’t want to look nervous – you should be calm, collected, and ready for anything. Your suit should say the same about you, remember, first impressions count for everything. When nailing the job, and the look, on the day – make sure that you carry out some background research so that you match your outfit appropriately to the business you’re applying to.

Navy and grey are always good colours to go for. These colours are sophisticated, bold and they’re not too eccentric. They don’t overstep the mark, while ticking all the boxes; texture these colours nicely with a crisp white shirt and add a block-coloured tie as the finishing touch to this outfit – without making it look as though you’ve made too much effort.

Wear brogues with this outfit, as they say, a man is only as good as the shoes he wears!

What to wear at a wedding (without out-doing the groom)

Whether you’re going just for a great party, you’re the best man, or it’s the most important day of your life – you’ll need to look sharp on the day. Don’t worry though, it’s pretty easy to look good on the day. Unlike during an interview, accessories such as tie clips, pocket squares and cufflinks are all appropriate when it comes to the big day – just make sure that you wear these items with style and confidence.

When it comes to your suit you’ve got lots of options to choose from, you could go for a single or double-breasted suit. Or, if you’re looking to really impress, why not wear a tuxedo? You’ll need to be in the venue to match though – so make sure your suit fits the bill accordingly. A luxurious hotel or an extravagant ballroom is usually the best place to wear a tuxedo – otherwise – a slim fitting suit jacket is going to be more appropriate when the venue isn’t as formal.

A day at the races

It’s commonly known that a suit should be worn at the races. However, if you’d rather feel more comfortable, then try a blazer with a shirt and a pair of fitted jeans with some smart shoes. A skinny-fit suit is also great at the races, as you’ll stand-out from the crowd with a fashionable edge –most people at popular events tend to wear the same type of outfit.

What you wear to each event will always be different, and try not to wear the same outfit twice! Your style should always reflect your own personal sensibilities, and if you don’t like a certain look, then don’t wear it! You should always feel comfortable and embrace what looks great on you, not everyone else.
